Play The New Liberal Game

I believe it is called bloodshed for dollars.

  1. Pure sophistry. For Dion, the only evidence that could compel the government to stop the death wagons deal would be when the Saudis use them inappropriately. Apparently the Saudi record of using the previous models of LAVs Canada furnished isn't relevant. What they did with LAV Mk.3s is no indication of what they have in mind for the LAV Mk. 6s.

    1. I have read your posts on this foul regime and its relationship with Canada, Mound. There can be nothing but condemnation of this deal, and voiding of it, immediately.

  2. I find it hard to listen to Dion these days Lorne, as he weasels out of explaining why he really signed the deal with Saudi Arabia. What Canadians want does not matter. When they do something that they think we will disagree with, they first try to hide it , then if it comes to light they explain by lying.Gee, where have we seen that before. Watch Foreign Policy Lorne. It is where the Liberals will be most cowardly. It is where they will be selling out Canadians. Too soon to tell. Maybe. I would bet that I am right though.

    1. It was almost as if Dion was trying to exploit his accent in order to obfuscate as he talked in this video, Pamela.

In terms of foreign interactions, my greatest concern lies with the TPP. I read an article online today that said the meeting for the first 'public consultation' on it had room only for 60 people, and many were left off the speakers' list.

  3. Who will tell the 5,000 workers and their families that they are going to lose their jobs? Will you contribute money from your fatty pensions to put food on their table so their children don't go hungry? Or don't you care?

    1. What you are arguing here, Anon, is that jobs are more important than people's lives. It is an argument that likely holds sway during a time when the neoliberal agenda prevails, but it is, at bottom, a totally amoral position, in my view. If followed to its natural conclusion, perhaps we should be attempting to offer incentives for handgun manufacturers to set up shop here as well. They would certainly provide jobs, but at what social and moral cost? As well, should we stop all efforts at mitigating global warming since they will inevitably lead to unemployment in the oil patch and all the industries that supply it?

      Short-term gain for long-term misery is a devil's bargain.

    2. Also Lorne, it's not really about the jobs. It's about the 15B profit. And does anyone really think that Washington didn't have a say in this deal. Jobs should not be created on the backs of human rights being violated. Maybe people should start thinking of who the REAL victims in this deal are.
